Warts and all.

When we’re good, we’re great. Here’s what an actual client had to say with regard to a specific task, unedited aside from changing names. (Posted with permission)

Dear Ted,

I am writing to commend Fancy Hands Assistant Shannon for her astonishing efficiency, thoroughness, and thoughtfulness.

My brother, who lives in Georgia, was miserable — he had slipped on the ice and ended up needing metal screws driven into his ankle. My husband said, ‘Too bad we can’t bring him some barbecue from his favorite roadhouse,’ but we live many states away, and I was in yet another part of the country for work.

When Shannon learned that the barbecue place did not deliver, she took the initiative, all on her own, to find food delivery services and even, drawing upon her own experience a taxi service willing to handle such a task; neither of these things would have occurred to me. She also looked at online maps, pored over the menu to find different options for what to send, and worked through the payment issue, all with my hectic work schedule — possibly in a different time zone from her own — in mind. She then set up a way for me to pay for the food and the taxi, and arranged the taxi pickup and delivery in time for dinner, all the way in Georgia, that day.

My brother was extremely confused when the driver arrived, then increasingly delighted as he realized what had happened. It really made his day. He called in wonder at how this miracle had transpired. I explained about Fancy Hands, and had to give all the credit to Shannon.

Fancy Hands’ service can be a little uneven at times, and there are still problems — of responsiveness, etc., not to mention the credit card issue — that I hope will be soon be worked out.

But Shannon’s work, above and beyond the call of duty, has made sticking with it all worthwhile, and the story is one that my brother will tell for years to come, and will always make the memory of a bad day a little happier.

Very best,

[Fancy Hands Client]
